In related news - I made this little app that lets you play with moire patterns. (sorry, mac only)

Click to add more sets of circles. The straight line originating from your mouse determines direction and velocity, and color of the ghost circle-sets is the color of the resulting moving circle-set. Press p to pause. Press p for help. Press p for more controls! And press ESCAPE to quit!

I also rewrote something Rob Hanlon, Colin Bayer and I hacked together a few years ago as a modification of Random Walk. (again, sorry, mac only.)

The applications would be great as screensavers, if only they were less processor intensive.
